New Haven Man's Body Recovered From Connecticut River in Windsor

(HARTFORD) — DEEP Environmental Conservation (EnCon) Police responded on Sunday evening September 6, 2026, to a reported personal watercraft (“Jet Ski®”-type) accident on the Connecticut River, near the Bissell Bridge Boat Launch in Windsor. The report indicated that a person was missing in the water.
EnCon officers, the Central Connecticut Dive Team, CT State Police, and Windsor Police and Fire Department all participated in a search for the missing party, identified as Jose Nunez Quezada, 32, of New Haven. The search was suspended around 11 p.m. Sunday, and resumed Monday morning. On Monday, Jose’s body was recovered.
DEEP extends its condolences to Jose’s family and friends. The Office of the Chief State Medical Examiner will the determine cause and manner of death. The incident remains under investigation.
